NTNU gets new supercomputer

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) has bought Norway's most powerful computer. The machine will be delivered by IBM in the fall and has a peak performance of 7 Tflops, which is seven times the performance of the machine currently operated by NTNU. The new machine will be used by scientists from all over Norway, and in particular by the Meteorological Institute for operational weather forecasting. The machine is financed in part by NTNU and in part by the Research Council of Norway through UNINETT Sigma.

The press release (in Norwegian) from NTNU can be found here.
