Application for resources on the national supercomputers

These pages contain the information to apply for access and resources on the national supercomputers managed by the Notur project.

Notur is the Norwegian High Performance Computing consortium funded by the Research Council of Norway (RCN). Notur has been given the task of coordinating and developing the national high-end computing infrastructure for computational science. The computer resources are hosted and operated by the university partners. UNINETT Sigma is the coordinating partner. A main task of the Notur project is to provide adequate resources for research and education and to the Meteorological Institute for operational weather forecasting. More information about Notur can be found here.

For each of the facilities in Notur, the total available resources (measured in CPU hours) are divided into an RCN (or 'national') part and a university (or 'local') part. The university where a resource is located has therefore a part of the facilities to its disposal for internal purposes (primarily research that is strategic to that university).

Individuals and groups at NTNU, UiB, UiO, UiT may direct applications to either the national or local part of a resource. Applicants must evaluate what is most appropriate or preferred.

Individuals and groups from other organizations normally apply for access to the national part of a resource.

Applications to the national part are handled by the Resource Allocation Committee (RFK) that has been appointed by the Research Council of Norway.
